On The Move: King, Krick, Fowler, Fencil

Alex King

The Alabama Port Authority has announced a pair of new senior leaders, with the port authority’s board of directors approving Alex King as chief operating officer and Jason Krick as chief professional engineer.

“As the port continues to grow, it’s essential that we have strong leadership in both operations and engineering,” said Doug Otto, director and CEO of the Alabama Port Authority. “These appointments reinforce our focus on execution, reliability and long-term infrastructure delivery.”

King will begin as chief operating officer on March 1, while Krick will begin February 1. As chief operating officer, King will oversee terminal operations and the port’s existing customer base. King currently serves as CEO of the Panama City (Fla.) Port Authority.

As chief engineering officer, Krick will lead engineering, planning and technical delivery across the Alabama Port Authority’s system, supporting execution of major capital projects and long-term infrastructure strategy. Krick currently serves as chief of the Mobile Engineer District’s Engineering Division. In that role, he leads a team responsible for a $1.5 billion program.

“Delivering complex infrastructure projects while maintaining reliable day-to-day operations requires experienced leadership,” Otto said. “Alex and Jason bring the depth of experience needed to support that work.”

Crowley has announced a strategic consolidation of its business structure and, in so doing, has created two new divisions. James C. Fowler, executive vice president for Crowley, will serve as president of the company’s new shipping and logistics division, while fellow executive vice president Kollin Fencil will serve as president of the new energy division.

“This realignment sharpens our capabilities to execute with collaboration and deliver excellent results for customers of Crowley,” said Megan Davidson, Crowley’s chief operating officer, to whom both Fowler and Fencil will report. “James and Kollin are proven leaders who understand our customers, our people and operations and how to drive results.”

The new shipping and logistics division will serve the company’s commercial and government customers across its ocean shipping, inland trucking and multimodal transportation, warehousing and other supply chain solutions business lines.

“From farm to market, factory to retail and depot to frontline, Crowley’s new shipping and logistics division ensures that our commercial and government customers’ entire transportation value chain is managed by a single cohesive team,” Fowler said.

The energy division comprises Crowley Fuels, LNG and advanced energy solutions, tank farm operations, engineering services, ship assist and offshore tugs and barges.

“Energy is a growth engine for Crowley, and this structure allows us to scale faster and innovate across traditional and emerging energy markets,” Fencil said.
