INDUSTRY LEADERS STRESS IMPORTANCE OF 50-FOOT SHIP CHANNEL FOR LOWER MISSISSIPPI RIVER

With the public comment period closed for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ tentative recommendation to deepen the Lower Mississippi River ship channel between the Port of South Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico to 50 feet and with the final Chief’s Report on the project due in about a year, industry leaders are focusing efforts on ensuring Congress will appropriate the funds needed to make the project come to fruition.
