Charity Pontoon Boat Traveler Publishes Book

Erich Mische floated down the Mississippi River from St. Paul, Minn., to Baton Rouge, La., last year on a converted pontoon boat to promote the nonprofit he serves as executive director.

A year later, Mische has written a book on the experience titled “Hope On The River: An Unlikely Captain’s 1700-Mile Mississippi River Journey On A Leaky Raft To Save His Non-Profit.”

Mische is executive director of Spare Key, a non-profit that helps families facing a medical crisis pay their bills. It operates in all 50 states, as well as Washington, D.C. He has returned to 10 states adjoining the Mississippi for a book signing tour over the next few weeks.

The book is available at major booksellers, and 100 percent of the profit benefits Spare Key.

The book details Mische’s adventures, and misadventures, on the river.
