Mitsubishi Marine Introduces New 1,350 Hp. S12R Engine

Covington, La.-based Laborde Products has announced that Mitsubishi Marine Engines is now offering its S12R Tier 3 marine engine in a 1,350 hp. rating, thus bringing operators of towboats in the 2,600 to 2,800 hp. range an option for purely mechanical main engines.

Now available in 1,350 hp. at both 1,600 and 1,800 rpm, this update expands the S12R’s Tier 3 lineup for vessel repower projects. Other available ratings include 1,100 hp. and 1,260 hp., affording multiple options for vessel operators.

For Tier 4 applications, the same S12R platform is available at 1,260 hp. with the addition of an SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system.

Built on a mechanical engine, the Mitsubishi S12R provides dependability, serviceability and robust parts support, while maximizing uptime and also meeting regulatory demands.
