Harriett Eckart

Harriett J. Eckart, a longtime employee of Jeffboat in Jeffersonville, Ind., died July 26 at the age of 73. Eckart was born November 16, 1951, to Howard and Alma Crecelius Harbeson, who both preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Clyde W. Eckart of Corydon, Ind., and her daughters, Jennifer Holland and Laura Timberlake, along with Timberlake’s husband, Scott. Other survivors include two grandchildren, Emma Holland and Charles Timberlake; four brothers, Dennis, Dallas (Donna), Steven (Reba) and Jeff (Sandy) Harbeson; and three sisters, Sandra Hamilton (Michael), Mindy Timberlake (Gary), Ruth Phipps (James) and Judy Yates (George).

Eckart spent close to 40 years at Jeffboat and retired as senior procurement agent for the shipyard.

“I first met her in 1988,” said Neal Langdon with Arcosa. “There were only a handful of people working at Jeffboat at that time. She was extremely knowledgeable about all the products. She may have been a more behind the scenes person, but she was well known in the industry.”

Eckart was a member of Corydon United Methodist Church in Corydon, Ind.

A memorial service was held August 1 at Gehlback & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.
