Tennessee River Valley Conference Set For March 23

The Tennessee River Valley Association (TRVA) and Tennessee-Cumberland Waterways Council will hold their joint 59th annual meeting March 23 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Franklin Cool Springs in Franklin, Tenn.

The meeting was previously postponed three times due to government shutdowns and winter weather, executive director Cline Jones said. All previous registrations will be honored unless notified otherwise.

Jones said previously that he expected key presentations to touch on the need for funding for inland waterways projects. An after-action session will discuss unplanned closures at Holt, Demopolis and Wilson locks and dams, along with how those facilities were repaired. Project managers have been invited to update those attending the conference on the status of two major projects: the Kentucky Lock Addition Project and the Chickamauga Lock Replacement Project.

Invited speakers include representatives from the Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Maritime Administration, Tennessee Valley Authority and Waterways Council Inc.
