Photo Feature: Storm Over The Lower Miss

The mv. Omaha passes under a gathering storm on the Lower Mississippi River near Turn Services’ Meraux Fleet, located at Mile 86.5 above Head of Passes on the right descending bank. Turn Services crew boat captain Louis Phillips Jr. captured the image the morning of July 11. See more of Phillips’ Mississippi River photos on his Facebook page, Phillips Photography. Turn Services acquired the mv. Omaha in September 2005. Modern Marine Power Inc. of Houma, La., built the 70- by 26-foot vessel in 1980. In 2009, Turn Services repowered the Omaha, which was originally named the CEPCO II, with a pair of Cat 3412 engines that produce 1,440 hp. (Photo by Louis Phillips Jr.)
