Pushing Hope Charity Tournament Set For August 15–17

The 2019 Pushing Hope Annual Marine Industry Charity Tournament to benefit Mary Crowley Cancer Research is scheduled for August 15–17. This year’s event will include a seafood boil, golf outing, softball and kickball, and a 5K and 1 mile fun run/walk.

Most events will be held at the Kirkwood Athletic Association Ballpark, 2377 Marshall Road, Kirkwood, Mo. 63122; the golf tournament will be held at Pevely Farms Golf Club, 400 Lewis Road, Crescent Mo. 63025.

The charity tournament was originated in the early 1980s, when Consolidated Grain & Barge began an annual softball tournament as a way to get the industry together, have fun and support a charitable cause. CGB eventually passed the coordination of the tournament to Olympic Marine, which ran it for nine years. In 1999, MEMCO Barge took it over, and MEMCO and its successor, AEP River Operations, continued the tradition for 17 years. After AEP was acquired by American Commercial Barge Line in 2015, Ceres Consulting took over the coordination of the tournament, with ACBL as a major sponsor.

Along the way, a golf tournament and kickball tournament were added, and in 2018 the fun run/walk was held for the first time.

Ceres will post registration information about the 2019 tournament in the near future on its website, www.ceresbarge.com, under the “Pushing Hope Tournament” tab.
